Support

keepsake is a small, independent app. If something isn't working, or you have a question or a suggestion, please get in touch — a real person reads every message.

Reporting a problem

So it can be tracked down quickly, it helps to include: which device you're using (iPhone, Mac or Windows), which version of the operating system, what you were doing when it happened, and what you expected instead. Screenshots are welcome.

Please don't send journal entries or personal details — they're never needed to fix a problem.

Common questions

Where is my journal kept?

On your device, and only there. keepsake has no accounts and no servers, so your entries, photos and voice notes never leave the device you wrote them on.

Does keepsake sync between my devices?

No. Each device keeps its own separate journal. If syncing is ever added it will be optional and clearly explained — never switched on for you.

Can I get a copy of my entries out? (Mac and Windows)

Yes — open Settings → Export journal and choose a folder. keepsake writes a readable copy of every entry along with all your photos and voice notes.

I forgot my app-lock passphrase (Mac and Windows)

On the lock screen, choose Forgot passphrase? and enter the one-time recovery code you saved when you turned the lock on. That lets you set a new passphrase and gives you a fresh recovery code. If both the passphrase and the recovery code are lost, the app can't be unlocked — your files remain on disk, but there's no way for us to recover access, because nothing is stored on our side.

Windows warns me when I install it

The Windows installer isn't code-signed yet, so Windows may show "Windows protected your PC". Click More info then Run anyway. The warning appears for new apps and fades as more people install them. (The Mac app is signed and notarised by Apple, so it opens without a warning.)

How do I delete everything?

Settings → Delete all data removes every entry, photo and voice note from the device. It can't be undone, and because we hold no copy of your data, it can't be recovered by us. Deleting the app removes its data too.

Privacy

keepsake collects nothing. You can read the full policy for keepsake on iPhone or for keepsake on Mac and Windows — the two differ only in the platform features each app uses.
